Braces, made simple
Braces are small brackets bonded to your teeth, connected by a thin wire. Every few weeks we adjust the wire, and your teeth move a little at a time into the right spot. It's the most proven orthodontic treatment there is, and it still handles the widest range of cases, from mild crowding to bigger bite problems.
At Smile 4 Less, braces are also the most affordable way to get there. No fancy add-ons you don't need. Just real orthodontists, real results, and a monthly payment you can actually live with.
Who braces are right for
- Kids (around 7 to 12): sometimes a short Phase 1 with an expander or partial braces, then full braces once the adult teeth are in. More on kids & teens.
- Teens: the classic braces years. Colored bands are still a thing, and yes, they can pick the colors.
- Adults: more adults get braces every year. If you want the most budget-friendly option and don't mind a little metal, braces are a great choice. If you'd rather keep it low-key, look at clear braces or Invisalign.
Braces are usually the better fit than aligners when teeth need bigger moves, when a bite needs correcting, or when a patient (hi, teenagers) might not wear removable aligners the full 22 hours a day.
What treatment looks like
- Free consultation. Exam and X-ray, a look at your smile goals, and a clear price. About 45 minutes.
- Braces go on. Often the same day as your consult if you're ready. Getting them placed takes about an hour and doesn't hurt.
- Check-ins every 6 to 8 weeks. Quick visits to adjust the wire. Our evening hours mean no missed school or work.
- Braces come off. Cue the "braces removed today" photo. You'll get a retainer to keep everything in place.
How long do braces take?
Most patients wear braces somewhere between 12 and 24 months. Simple crowding can be quicker; bigger bite corrections take longer. Your orthodontist will give you a realistic range at your consultation, and keeping your appointments is the best way to stay on schedule.

Stainless steel brackets, smaller and smoother than the ones you remember. The most affordable option, and the workhorse for every kind of case.
Clear (ceramic) braces

What braces cost at Smile 4 Less
Braces start as low as $99 a month with our interest-free in-house financing. Your exact monthly payment depends on your treatment plan, and we'll show it to you in writing at your free consultation. Most insurance plans are accepted, and military and law enforcement families get 10% off.
Texas Medicaid does not cover orthodontic treatment, so we're not able to accept it for braces. Our in-house financing is built to fill that gap.

Braces FAQ
Do braces hurt?
Getting them on doesn't hurt. Your teeth will feel sore for a few days after they go on and after some adjustments. Soft foods and an over-the-counter pain reliever handle it. Most patients say it's much easier than they expected.
Can I get braces the same day as my consultation?
Usually, yes. If your exam shows you're ready and you'd like to start, we can often place braces at the same visit. Plenty of our Google reviews mention walking in for a consult and walking out in braces.
What can't I eat with braces?
Hard, sticky, and chewy stuff: ice, hard candy, popcorn, gum, caramel, whole apples and corn on the cob (cut them up instead). Everything else is fair game. See our Living With Braces guide.
How often do I come in?
Every 6 to 8 weeks for a quick adjustment, usually 20 to 30 minutes. We have evening appointments so kids don't miss school and you don't miss work.
Is $99 a month really possible?
Yes. "As low as $99 a month" is our lowest in-house financing payment, and many patients qualify for it. Your payment depends on your specific plan, and we'll tell you the exact number at your free visit before you commit to anything.
Do you take my insurance?
Most PPO plans, yes. We'll check your orthodontic benefit for you at the consultation. Texas Medicaid does not cover orthodontics.
